A multidisciplinary organisation:
The AIEST was founded in 1951 as an international association of scientific experts in tourism.
Today it has some 350 members in 44 countries on all continents. It is in effect an interdisciplinary network
which includes economists, business administration experts, geographers, sociologists and scientists
from several other disciplines. The AIEST is also multilingual. Members freely converse, lecture and publish in
English, French, German, and when necessary in other languages.
The annual subscription for regular membership is Swiss Francs 375 including a non-recurring "entry tax" for new members of Swiss Francs 100 or
Swiss Francs 925 for associate membership including a non-recurring “entry tax” for new members of Swiss Francs 100.
Membership requirements:
The AIEST is open to anyone with a scientific interest in the field of tourism.
Decisions on the admission of new members are taken twice a year by the Executive Committee.
